To know the present from the past experiences - Welcome to a new Hakka digital life

  Culture is the accumulation of lifestyles. The preservation of cultural assets has a universal value.Due to the rapid time changes in the society in this era, avoiding difficulties in collecting and investigating Hakka history in the future, resulted from the historical records being scattered or passing away of the older generation, the Council of Hakka Affairs in 2008 joined the National Science Council’s Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Project– Digital Taiwan Hakka Villages. This project combines the industrial, public, and academic power with the populace organizations to proceed to develop the e-learning content and digital archives, focusing on Hakka cultural relics, Hakka cultural assets,books and literature and audiovisual data. This project intends to develop simultaneously the multiple aspects, including GPS, Web2.0, cultural industries, travel and tourism, and audiovisual media, utilizing the characteristics of the digital space and public-participation characteristics of the internet so as to make Taiwan to become the digital spiritual hometown of Hakka people around the world.
  The Digital Taiwan Hakka Villages website offers a wide variety of contents, including the five sub-projects Taiwan Hakka Cultural Relics Digital Archives Project, Taiwan Hakka Culture Digital Archives Project, Taiwan Hakka Books Digital Archives Project, Taiwan Hakka Audiovisual  Digital Archives Project and Taiwan Hakka Culture Union Catalog Digital Archives Project, it also includes Hakka Village Themes, Hakka Village Map, Hakka Village Impressions, Hakka Audiovisuals, Special Collections and Cast Your Vote. In Hakka village themes, we invite scholars and specialists, as Mr. Li Yun-Fei, Mr. Chiu Yen-Kui and Mr. Chen Pang-Chen (Chen Pan), to speak on different themes; Hakka village map combines the technologies of GIS, GPS and Google Earth to provide a map of cultural assets, such as historical sites, architectures and clusters, historical relics, cultural landscape, traditional arts, folk custom relics, artifacts and natural landscape; Hakka village of impressions is a place for visitors to publish articles, images and cultural maps; Hakka audiovisuals preserves and records invisible cultural assets, such as folk arts, performance arts and life cycle rituals; for Special collections we entrust the team that conducted a survey on Hakka cultural resources in 2005 and 2006 to select 400 special collections from over 60,000 survey objects ,in Cast your vote, to choose their favorite Hakka holiday.”
